EDGAR ALLAN POE: A BALTIMORE ICON
The Baltimore Museum of Art presents a dramatic exhibition of works by some of the greatest artists of the 19th and 20th centuries who were inspired by Edgar Allan Poe's chilling and unforgettable tales. Drawn largely from the BMA's renowned collection, these rarely seen prints, drawings, and illustrated books explore the enduring legacy of Poe's uniquely dark fiction on modern artists. Included in the exhibition are vivid illustrations for The Raven by Edouard Manet and a haunting portrait of Poe by Henri Matisse. The exhibition also features works by contemporary artists from Maryland responding to the universal themes taken up in Poe's poems and stories—love, loss, silence, obsession, and terror. Film screenings, performances, and writing and poetry workshops will complement the exhibition. Visit www.artbma.org for more information.

The Edgar Allan Poe Birthday Celebration
Westminster Hall
519 West Fayette Street,
Baltimore, Maryland 21201

The Poe House and Museum proudly presents the East Coast Premiere of Jeffrey Combs in Nevermore…An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe.

Celebrate Poe’s birthday with us this January as we go beyond the bicentennial and present this astounding tour de force!  You’ve heard about this remarkable one-man play and your friends who have seen it agree with the LA Times, calling Jeffrey Combs work “a landmark performance”!

The Poe House is proud to present this exciting work which debuted in Los Angeles at the Steve Allen Theater In July 2009 to sold-out houses and with multiple extensions brought the run to a close December 19, 2009.

Nevermore, An Evening With Edgar Allan Poe recreates the public recitals that Poe presented during the last few years of his life. This is Poe in his own words. The text is taken from his letters and essays.

Jeffrey Combs has appeared in over 75 stage productions during his long and successful career. He has starred in over 50 films and is perhaps best known for his portrayal of Herbert West in the cult classic RE-ANIMATOR. Oven the span of his career, Jeffrey has also guest starred on many TV series including THE 4400, COLD CASE, and CSI. He appeared in almost 50 episodes as three different recurring roles within the STAR TREK franchise.

Stay after the performance for our world famous Toast to Poe and an after-show discussion with star Jeffrey Combs and film director Stuart Gordon, moderated by Mark Redfield.

2009 has been an outstanding year in Baltimore for the Poe Bicentennial and the excitement and thrills continue with the famous birthday celebration to Poe.

The Edgar Allan Poe Birthday Celebration is sponsored by The Edgar Allan Poe House and Museum and is produced and directed by Jeff Jerome and Mark Redfield.
